Automotive Tapes for Acoustically Insulated Tires

Adhesive technology designed for bonding noise absorption materials to the inside of tires.

Driven by elevated traffic density, drive-by-noise is increasingly being recognized as an environmental issue. Legislation to manage and reduce this impact has led to measures in many regions to reduce the noise emitted by tires. In addition, with the emergence of electric vehicles and less engine noise, the need to reduce interior vehicle noise has increased.

A solution for both these issues has been the addition of sound absorption materials to reduce the noise created within the tire cavity. Avery Dennison offers pressure-sensitive adhesive solutions to help bond noise-absorbing foam and other materials to the inside surface of vehicle tires.

Features

  • A range of pure-acrylic and modified-acrylic adhesives optimized for polyurethane foam to tire bonding

  • High adhesive coat weights that ensure excellent anchorage to porous, open cell foam structure

  • Transfer tape construction enables resistance to flexing, compression and impact

Benefits

  • Instant bond to tire bladder that does not require heat or cure time for quick manufacturing process

  • Bond strength greater than internal strength of polyurethane foam

  • Durability against time, high and low temperatures and impacts to last the life of the tire
