PAINESVILLE, Ohio—November 11, 2021 – Officials from the City of Painesville, Ohio, joined with management from Avery Dennison Performance Tapes on October 21, 2021, to break ground on the company’s 35,000-sq. ft. plant expansion at its Chester Street campus. The expansion is an outgrowth of the company’s commitment to doing business in Northeast Ohio and is expected to generate more than 25 new full-time jobs.

Among the attending city dignitaries and company management were Paul Hach, president of Painesville City Council, Doug Lewis, Painesville city manager, Cathy Bieterman, the city’s economic development director and Steve Flannery, vice president and general manager of Performance Tapes North America, all of whom ceremoniously signaled the start of construction.

According to Flannery, the expansion’s design and construction reflect Avery Dennison’s commitment to sustainability and its role as a good corporate neighbor. “The building will be equipped with new energy efficient pressure-sensitive tape manufacturing equipment,'' Flannery said. “It will enable us to efficiently produce tapes used in everything from microchip manufacturing to the assembly of electric vehicles. The new hires will fill production and skilled labor roles. Our expanded workforce will add to the community’s economic growth and its standing as a preferred Northern Ohio manufacturing location.”

Painesville City Council President Hach noted that Avery Dennison has a history of productive community service. “Avery Dennison employees go above and beyond at our community events and volunteer opportunities,” Hach stated during the groundbreaking event. “I think that just shows how invested Avery Dennison is in the communities they work in. You see it in the actions of their employees.”

City Economic Development Director Bieterman added, “Avery Dennison, being the city’s largest employer, has always been a great community partner, and we look forward to more collaboration as they continue to grow here in the City of Painesville.”

The expanded facility will produce complex, multiple-layer pressure-sensitive specialty tapes used primarily in the automotive, general industrial, packaging, and building and construction industries. The additional manufacturing capacity will further enhance Avery Dennison Performance Tapes’ ability to develop and deliver high-quality pressure-sensitive adhesives solutions for both standard and novel customer applications.
